Actually, Umroi ‘Foreign Training Node’ of the Indian Army in Meghalaya comes under 51 Sub-Area. In such a situation, when the 16th edition of the Nomadic-Elephant exercise between the armies of India and Mongolia started on Wednesday (3-16 July), Major General Prasanna was also present there. Mongolia’s Ambassador to India Dambajavin Ganbold was also present at the opening ceremony.

Guwahati (Assam)-based Defence Ministry spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat said that during the exercise, “the Indian contingent of 45 personnel is being represented by a battalion of Sikkim Scouts and other branches. While the Mongolian Army is being represented by soldiers of 150 Quick Reaction Force Battalion.”

Mongolia shares a long border with China. Although both countries have resolved the border dispute to some extent, history shows that Mongolia and China have had a long dispute. Since India has a long border dispute with China, the joint military exercise of the Indian Army with the Mongolian Army becomes very important.
