Wanting to lose weight and losing weight are two very different things.
Shedding the pounds can be a lot trickier than it sounds. But if you’re stuck in limbo, seemingly unable to slim down at all, there are some ways to make a break through.
Shannon Collins, also known as The Gym Nurse on Instagram, recently told her 150,000 followers how to follow in her footsteps. She learned plenty of fitness secrets after achieving her ripped transformation.
And according to the 44-year-old, many fail to reach their goals as they keep getting sucked into bad habits. The main no-no she listed was for those who aren’t consistent when it comes to going to the gym.
She also warned against aiming for “instant results” or looking for the “perfect time” to get healthy – as this very rarely happens.
Shannon also urged her followers to swerve “quick fixes”. She points out that trying to change too much of your lifestyle too soon can be overwhelming, leading to potential failure.
Another common mistake people make, according to the gym guru, is getting obsessed with the numbers on the scales. She said it’s much more shrewd to set your sights on overall health and well-being instead.
She insists that weighing less isn’t always a sign of strength – and argued avoiding weight training out of fear of bulking up is pointless.
Then finally, Shannon pointed out that getting fit can often be difficult. While slip ups are bound to happen, it’s important to get yourself back up and push through when you can.
Since Shannon uploaded the post, it’s racked up more than 1,100 likes and plenty of positive comments. One fan agreed: “Yes. Consistency is key.”
Another wrote: “Whew – this is the tough love I needed today.” And a third added: “I’ve made my journey a part of who I am, and how it can make me a better person. You’re right, you have to have a positive mindset. Don’t make it harder than it needs to be.”
