Grabbing a Meal Deal from your local supermarket when you’re trying to make healthier choices can feel almost impossible.
You might find yourself reaching for a salad, a smoothie, and a ‘health’ bar as your snack if you’re eating in a calorie deficit, but this isn’t always the best idea. A woman has shared a “no BS” tip for “fat loss” when you’re choosing your lunch on the go, urging people to not get sucked in by the “health marketing” that is abundant in the fitness space.
Bethany Dobson, from Preston in Lancashire, took to YouTube Shorts to share that the Meal Deal that you’re choosing as a healthy option actually “comes to around 1,000 calories” and will only “fill you up for about 20 minutes”.
She then said that she was going to show you what to get instead – and reached for a sandwich. Despite the fact that it contains bread, which many trying to lose weight wouldn’t go near, it’s far fewer calories and will keep you feeling fuller for longer.
“It’ll actually fill you up, and make you stick to your calories”, Bethany said. She encouraged people to “swap the salad for a chicken salad sandwich”, and then swap your “healthy drink for a zero calorie fizzy drink”, and then “swap your health bar for a protein yoghurt”.
Bethany, 23, said that this choice “only comes to 500 calories which is half the amount of calories” – and it also contains “double the amount of protein”.
This then saves you 500 calories for the rest of your day “to eat whatever you want with”. Bethany also said you’ll “actually stay full” with this choice.
She warned: “Stop getting drawn into all the health marketing, because most of the time, it’s a load of s***”.
In the comments, someone wrote: “This seems so obvious but it really isn’t if you’re not looking carefully at the nutrient info. Great video.”
Another penned: “I’d switch out the drink for water but I love that yoghurt it’s so delicious.”
