I’m a fashion writer and this Roman skirt is my top summer buy

Must read

As a fashion writer, there’s nothing I love more than finding a staple summer piece that I know will last me for seasons to come and can easily be styled with my existing wardrobe. One of my favourite trends this year has got to be a floaty, white midi skirt as it ticks all those boxes and is universally flattering on every body shape.

I’ve searched high and low for the perfect pick to add to my summer skirt collection and have finally found ‘the one’. Roman’s White Cotton Broderie Midi Skirt is every boho-fashion lover’s dream.

The broderie fabric is so delicate and pretty and I adore the thick elasticated upper band as it’ll cinch you in at the waist. Not to mention – it has pockets.

Better yet, it’s included in the Roman sale taking the £35 price tag down to £30. I’ll be pairing mine with chunky sandals, a black vest top and gold jewellery for a chic daytime look, but it can easily be paired with an oversized denim jacket if you want to give the feminine skirt a little more edge.

Available in sizes 10 to 20, the breezy a-line fit and gathered skirt creates a flattering silhouette ideal for taking on holiday and popping on over swimwear. I also love the idea of it layered with a linen shirt at the beach. If you’re not a fan of the white colourway, it is also stocked in a vibrant cobalt blue.

It seems I’m not the only one who has been left impressed with the Roman skirt as wearers have left positive reviews on the website. One person said it is ‘very comfortable and easy to wear’ while another added ‘it’s a good price and pretty.’

However, if you have a petite frame it might not be best suited as it only comes in one skirt length. Someone else has mentioned: “Looking for a holiday summer skirt may be a little bit long but hopefully can be shortened.”

You can buy the Roman skirt for a discount price here, but they aren’t the only retailers who had tiered white midi skirts that caught my eye. This £40 River Island option has beaded tassels that would look amazing when worn to a festival. I’m also a big fan of the Nobody’s Child White Broderie Anglaise Maxi Skirt that’s £79. It’s a timeless investment piece that can be worn again and again as it is made from ‘high quality’ material.
