As a fashion writer, I am always on the hunt for new outfits that are sure to be huge during every season of the year.
Right now, it seems that many shoppers are on the hunt for a special dress that they can wear to any summer events. From weddings and BBQs to graduations, the warmer season always brings with it a full calendar of things to do.
One retailer that is proven popular right now is M&S, with this Cotton Rich Textured Midaxi Slip Dress already gaining attention. Priced at £75, this “stunning” dress has already managed to attract a near perfect rating on the retailer’s website.
Designed in a comfy cotton-rich material, this dress features the textured open-knit design that I have spotted being quite the trend this year. Not to mention that the textured effect elevates this frock from being a regular ‘slip-style’ dress into something more fancy.
Available in a creamy ecru or a vibrant pink, this summer dress is available in sizes from a UK 8 to 24. However, the retailer does advise that it is “selling fast”, and I can imagine that its trendy design will have it disappear soon.
Since it’s already a “favourite” among many M&S shoppers, I decided to try it on and see if it was worth the hype. I opted for the hot pink colour, mainly because I think it would make this dress the standout wardrobe item for summer 2024.
I also found that the material skimmed my figure beautifully without being ‘overly clingy’, meaning there would be enough room to dance and eat at the likes of weddings or special occasions. It’s also fully lined, which is a plus for anyone worried about it being see through.
The delicate straps are also not flimsy at all, and they make this a breezy number perfect for those hot summer days, and would even be ideal for popping in your holiday suitcase. The frock is complete with a classic round neckline and flattering side-hem split.
While I’d personally choose the pink colour for a wedding, this dress in both colourways can be worn to pretty much any event this summer. Team it with the £49.50 Wide Fit Leather T Bar Block Heel Sandals and you have an outfit ready for any special occasion.

I am not the only fan of the dress, as numerous fashion enthusiasts have left glowing reviews that have praised its “perfect fit” and hailed it a “great find”.
One rave review read: “Absolutely gorgeous dress love it . Ordered petite and its a perfect fit. I love the colour and design and especially the crochet.”
A second shopper said: “Stunning dress. Can’t wait to have the opportunity to dress up and wear it!”

A bohemian-inspired dress from New Look is a new go-to wardrobe for many this summer.
The retailer’s Embroidered Sleeve Midi Dress, which boasts an impressive 4.1 rating, is now on sale from £42.99 to just £30 – saving shoppers £12.99. The dress boasts a “roomy” design that shoppers say “flows beautifully”.
Available in sizes from a UK 8 to 22, the £30 midi-length dress is finished with a classy V-neckline, delicate embroidery detail along the long puff sleeves and a button-up fastening. It also features a belted waist for cinching your figure.
It can be bought in three colours – khaki, off white and black.
Numerous shoppers on the New Look website have been heaping praise on the dress for its “rich” colourway and “comfortable fit”.
One review read: “A lovely roomy dress which flows beautifully, perfect for the transitional seasons or a summer evening. Lovely detailing on the sleeves (which aren’t too tight) and appears well made. The colour is lovely and just as rich as the photos show.”

It is worth mentioning that one shopper did find that the style didn’t suit them, as they wrote: “I like these crochet dresses but actually returned it because the colour did not suit me. I liked the shape and neckline but felt it lacked something. I would have liked a jacket or something to go over it. The long length was good as I am 5’9 nearing my mid calf.”
As a Fashion Writer myself, I would have to agree with many of the glowing five-star reviews. The retailer’s £75 dress is a lightweight and eye-catching number that will be perfect for sporting at any summer outings.
