IKEA are looking to hire Scots for a new store with a twist – unlike its brick-and-mortar shops – this one will be entirely virtual with jobs starting at £13 per hour.
The Swedish furniture brand is hoping to allow fans the ability to ‘live their home furnishing dreams’ while getting paid to play video games. ‘The Co-Worker Game’ will be coming to Roblox on June 24, and IKEA are looking for a small number of staff.
Successful candidates would work entirely remotely while they carry out talks similar to their real-world counterparts world counterparts while helping customers. Jobs will include serving their famous meatballs and organising various showrooms.

Hard workers will also have the opportunity to be promoted and move across the various departments. Applications for the 10 roles are already open and will close on Sunday, June 16.
Applicants must be over 18 and live in the UK or Ireland. The recruitment process includes a questionnaire and will require an updated CV – videos can also be submitted, and if successful, applicants will be invited to a digital interview.
Virtual interviews for shortlisted applicants will take place for this fully remote virtual role between Thursday, 14th and Tuesday, 18th June. Each successful applicant will be paid an hourly IKEA Co-Worker rate for their time on the game.
Darren Taylor, Country People and Culture Manager for IKEA UK and Ireland, said: “We’re excited to be the first brand to launch paid work on Roblox to showcase how we do careers differently, bringing our unique careers philosophy to life. At IKEA, there is no set route to career progression.
“Our co-workers are able to change roles, switch departments, and grow in any direction they choose, both in the game or in the real world. There are many ways to learn and grow at IKEA, and that’s what IKEA on Roblox is all about.”
