Remember when Kim Kardashian attended the Met Gala back in 2022 in Marilyn Monroe’s actual dress? It’s safe to say people had thoughts. Namely, concern that the SKIMS founder would damage the iconic and historic garment due to the fact she couldn’t even do up the dress (hidden by the white furry jacket she wore draped around her arms).
Yep, Kim is no stranger to vintage ‘fits and a little controversy alike. And she’s found herself in a somewhat similar situation, this time concerning Janet Jackson.
ICYMI, Kim, along with sister Khloé and mum Kris Jenner, headed to a Janet Jackson concert las week. Proving she always has the perfect look no matter the occasion, Kim wore the exact same outfit that Janet Jackson wore in her ‘If’ music video, released waaay back in 1993. But this is no replica, Kim won the ensemble at an auction honouring the singer held in 2021. Three years on, she finally got to wear it and now she’s treated us to pics, sharing an Instagram post from the night in question.
Despite teasing her social media followers on the night with just a peak at her look, these pics show the halterneck cropped waistcoat embellished with cream stacked beads along either side of the bust paired with black suede lace-up flared trousers in all their glory. A cream beaded choker necklace completed the ‘fit.
In response to Kim’s latest look, the internet – again – had thoughts. Criticism ranged from the extravagance of the purchase that cost $25,000 (!!) to the audacity of the reality star and entrepreneur to wear Janet’s own outfit in front of her. Personally, we think Kim slayed, and we’re not alone with some of her fans taking to the comments section to write:
