Spanish carrier Iberia and Norwegian regional airline Widerøe have signed an interline agreement aimed at improving connectivity between the two countries.
The alliance will provide travellers from Spain with access to 14 additional destinations in Norway, including Trondheim, Orsta Volda, Forde, Sogndal, Sandane, Alesund, Molde, Kristiansund, Kristiansand, Stavanger, Haugesund and Bodo.
Iberia, part of British Airways’ parent company IAG, already provides year-round daily flights to Oslo, seasonal summer flights to Bergen and plans to add a new seasonal service to Tromsø in the upcoming winter season.
The Spanish carrier this week also expanded digital services offered through its WhatsApp channel, allowing passengers flying to select destinations to check-in and obtain their boarding pass via the messaging platform.
The new service is available on domestic flights, as well as services to European Schengen destinations, the UK, Ireland, Chile, Peru and Uruguay. Travellers can also review reservation details and receive notifications about their flight via WhatsApp.
Payments for certain services, including the purchase of additional luggage, will also “soon” be possible via the app, according to Iberia.
