After trying more than a handful of air purifiers to tackle my myriad of allergies I’ve found my favourite

Anyone who has lived with me will vouch for how tricky allergy season is. I’m known to sneeze often and loudly whenever the time strikes. It’s meant that I’ve pretty much always had an air purifier to hand and have even been known to have multiple so I can use one in each room.
My favourite was always my Dyson Purifier Hot+Coolâ„¢ which I’ve been known to compare to an air conditioning unit. It stayed in the top spot, as it works as a heater, fan and purifier all in one, until I got the Dyson Purifier Hot+Coolâ„¢ Formaldehyde HP09 purifying fan heater.
They may look quite similar on paper, with a difference of £100 and seemingly just a different colour but there’s more to it. Mainly when you’re using the app.

My favourite thing about this has to be the app. Although the remote is easy to use I find myself popping onto the app way more often. You can adjust the settings from anywhere so I can adjust the temperature of my room before I’ve even got to my house – I even put this to the test on a recent trip to the south of France where I could see at a glance what temperature my bedroom would be when I got home.
I also like that you can easily see what pollutants are mainly impacting your space and see where they’re coming from. It’s not a feature you would necessarily need in order to go about your day but it’s a really nice touch. It also means I get to keep an eye on what are the recurring issues I’m experiencing.
The device itself is really quiet unless I’m changing the temperature of the surrounding space, you can adjust the intensity of the fan too which I find really helpful.
I don’t think there’s a massive difference in the user experience of the newer model with the exception of the app use. I can change the temperature on my phone with the new one and see how warm my room is while with the older model, I cannot do either of those things or view the pollutants.
I have tried many different air purifiers in the past, including Breville 360° Light Protect Air Purifier and Swan Desktop Air Purifier and I don’t find them as effective. Although that’s what you would expect with the price difference. It is worth noting that I’ve barely dealt with Hay fever symptoms since getting the Dyson Purifier Hot+Coolâ„¢ Formaldehyde HP09.
You can get the Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool™ Formaldehyde HP09 for £699 directly from Dyson.
