Rachael Johnson took to money-saving Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK after stumbling upon the huge discounts in her local branch.

And after nabbing a toys haul that should’ve cost £102 for just 49p, it’s little surprise she’s eager to shout about it from the rooftops.

So, just how did she do it?

Well, luckily, alongside the post, she shared a caption which revealed all.

We will have some very happy Grandchildren come December!

Rachael penned: “Started our Christmas shopping (Yes. Christmas!) today. Half price sale in Argos.

“Bought these items that should have cost £102.00.

“With the discount it came to £55.49.

“Used 11,00 Nectar Points worth £55

“Paid 49p.”

She added: “We will have some very happy Grandchildren come December.”

Amongst the bargain buys included an ‘In the Night Garden’ fun sounds Igglepiggle, Gabby’s Dollhouse secret diary set, Bluey telephone and Gabby’s Dollhouse bakery.

Argos are selling the Challenge Pressure Washer for £65

Not stopping there, she also snapped up ‘The Independence and unofficial guide to Minecraft‘ Top Trumps specials, original Squishmallows Top Trumps and Simbrix ‘So Sweet’ Feature Pack.

And it’s not the first time Christmas has been on people’s lips in recent weeks.

Fabulous recently told how shoppers were left open-mouthed after spotting Home Bargains getting in to the festive spirit early.

Posting on Instagram, the bargain store shard a photo of their Christmas offerings which included everything from festive signs, bows and baubles to tree decorations.

The caption read: “Since Summer isn’t happening this year. Can we start to get excited about Christmas?”

When do supermarkets put out yellow-sticker bargains?

The time supermarkets reduce their products vary across stores.

Here’s a rough supermarket-by-supermarket guide:

Aldi

Aldi uses a red sticker to show reductions on fresh products such as bread, meat, fruit and vegetables.

This is when they have reached the last day of shelf life.

Red stickered items are most commonly found at opening and closing times.

M&S

Reduction times can vary from store to store but is most likely to occur near closing time.

Asda

Asda told Which? that yellow stickers are applied twice a day – in the morning and evening.

Co-op

Co-op told The Sun its reduced-to-clear prices are generally applied about four hours before the store closes.

Lidl

Lidl has a similar procedure to Asda and Aldi with reductions twice a day.

However individual stores may opt to reduce prices throughout the day.

Morrisons

Shoppers online have said that Morrisons does the best bargains first thing in the morning.

However, the store told Which? that there are no specific times for yellow sticker price cuts.

Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s told The Sun it’s at the store manager’s discretion whether to offer discounts.

However, shoppers have reported that the best deals are in the evening from 6pm.

Tesco

Tesco has said there is no specific time for reduction, but again most people found that prices were reduced from 6pm.

Waitrose

As with most of the other stores, Waitrose shoppers have said the best reductions are found before closing.

However, the store stated that there is no specific time for yellow stickers to be applied.

The snap revealed a selection of cheap festive items, including Merry Christmas signs for £3.99 and packs of mini baubles for just £1.99.

Also on offer were front door bows which were priced from £2.99 and 99p Christmas tree decorations.

But while it wasn’t made clear whether the festive aisle has actually returned to stores, festive goodies still remain out of stock on their website.
