A woman has revealed her ultimate gripe about living on a new build estate – and it has nothing to do with the house.
Alice Rose Buttery has been transforming parts of her cosy new build one room at a time and has even turned her garden into a small green oasis.
In March 2023, Alice and her partner were finally able to purchase their first home after spending two years living with their parents.
Even though she is in love with the new build property, the content creator is often left annoyed by her neighbours’ parking which leaves her weaving through the streets.
Dubbing it ‘one of the most annoying things about living on a new build estate’, the young woman was left baffled as to why people parked on the road.

Acknowledging it is a public road, she pointed out their estate was lucky as each home was fitted with a minimum of two car parking spaces.
‘I know a lot of builders don’t do that you get one parking space and then there’s cars all over the roads,’ she added.
‘But on our estate, there are two car parking spaces per house and people still park on the road and on the street.’
Alice claimed estate residents will often have one car in the driveway whilst all their other vehicles are dotted throughout the road.
‘I don’t know why this annoys me so much because people can park wherever they want it’s a public road,’ she quipped.
‘If you have guests around then fair enough but people park on both sides of the road like staggered – it’s so frustrating.’
Ongoing building work on the street has also exacerbated the issue, as many parts of the cul-de-sac are briefly inaccessible by car.
‘So you have to one way round and I feel like I am weaving cars and I am like “you’ve got a space,’ Alice explained.
‘I know I will become quite a grumpy boring adult but it really irritates me.’
People flocked to the comments, airing their frustrations with their neighbours’ parking decisions.
‘Don’t get me started with those houses with garages that they don’t use for cars taking spaces on the road…,’ one user chimed.
A second said: ‘My estate was new in the 90s then 10 years ago when all the kids grew up and got cars of their own the place turned into a nightmare.’

A third added: ‘New build estates have so many rules to abide by, you think one of them is, if you have a driveway use it.’
‘We’re on a new build everyone has spaces but they can’t be bothered to walk to the front or back so they just park on the road,’ another quipped.
‘I’ve gone past caring if I hit a wing mirror now’
However, not everyone agreed as others explained they would often park one car on the road to save them the hassle of moving vehicles around in the morning.
‘I can see both sides really. Yes you can park in front of each other on the drive but then you always have to make sure whoever is first out in the morning can get out,’ one wrote.
‘[It] can be a hassle sometimes.’
