‘I am beyond excited’: Kylie Minogue announces biggest tour in a decade

Kylie Minogue has announced her biggest tour in a decade in support of her comeback album Tension.

Minogue’s tour, which has 20 dates with more “to be announced soon”, will begin in Australia, before heading to Bangkok to kick off its Asia leg. On 16 May Minogue will reach the UK, where she will perform at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro indoor arena.

She will then appear in Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, London, Nottingham and Birmingham.

The Australian star also announced her next studio album, Tension II, a sequel to her 2023 work that contained the Grammy-winning hit Padam Padam. The album will be released on 18 October.

In a statement, Minogue said: “I am beyond excited to announce the Tension tour 2025. I can’t wait to share beautiful and wild moments with fans all over the world, celebrating the Tension era and more.

“It’s been an exhilarating ride so far, and now get ready for your close up because I will be calling Lights, Camera, Action … and there will be a whole lot of Padaming.”

Tension was the Australian singer’s ninth No 1 album in the UK charts. This year Minogue took home the global icon award at the Brits and won the best pop dance recording Grammy for Padam Padam.

In July she performed at the British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park in London, after becoming the first headliner at the nightclub Voltaire, a venue at the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, in November 2023.

Some fans on social media noted the Newcastle tour date and Eurovision fall on the same date, posing a tricky dilemma for some.

The renewed critical attention and greater commercial success for Tension and its lead single, especially compared with recent efforts, led to some calling last year a comeback moment for the star.

Padam Padam was initially not played on stations for younger audiences including BBC Radio 1 and Capital FM because it was targeted at older audiences. However, due to the song’s popularity on TikTok and X, Minogue drew in a generation of younger fans.

Shortly after the song was released last year, Minogue said “my heart is bursting with joy” and thanked fans for the reaction to Padam.

Tickets for her UK dates will go on general sale at 10am on Friday 27 September.
