Hull City have accepted an undisclosed offer from League Two side Doncaster Rovers for defender Tom Nixon after the defender impressed in South Yorkshire last season.
City activated Nixon’s option year earlier this summer after his season-long loan spell at the Eco-Power Stadium came to an end, but Rovers have clinched a permanent deal with the youngster penning a three-year deal.
Rovers boss Grant McCann, the former City head coach, made the 22-year-old a key summer target after Nixon played 32 times in a thrilling campaign which saw the side go from relegation candidates to play-off semi-finalists in the space of a history-equalling run of 10 straight wins.

Unfortunately for Nixon, Rovers, and fellow Tigers loanee Thimothee Lo-Tutala, a second-leg home defeat to Crewe Alexandra ended their hopes of promotion to League One.
The League Two promotion hopefuls had been keen to bring back the City goalkeeper for next term, but the former Tottenham Hotspur youngster has made clear his intention to try and impress new Tigers head coach Tim Walter during pre-season.
Nixon arrived at City in July 2021 after being released by Stoke City having been with his hometown club since an early age and working his way up to become the Potters’ Under-18 skipper, before moving to East Yorkshire having had a successful trial working under Andy Dawson.
Despite arriving three years ago with the aim of earning a place in the first-team setup at City, the attacking right-back never managed a senior appearance.
