Huge rock band confirmed for Glastonbury secret set as 2024 festival kicks off

Must read

THEY are one of my favourite groups of all time and come from my home town of Leicester.

So I could not be more excited that the brilliant Kasabian are the secret set at Glastonbury.

It’s been ten years since Serge Pizzorno and the group took to the stages at Worthy Farm and insiders confirmed to me that they are booked to play Woodsies at 6pm on Saturday.

A source said: “Glastonbury is always a big deal but this year Kasabian really can’t wait, especially as it’s a decade since they were last there.

“They loved the idea of being a secret act and jumped at the idea when it was suggested by Glasto boss Emily Eavis.

“The set will be an hour long.

“Fans are going to go absolutely nuts when they realise Kasabian are playing and Glasto are ready for it to be absolutely mobbed.”

The last time I watched the group was at the King Power stadium in Leicester — and the atmosphere was like absolutely nothing I’d ever seen.

Watching them at Glastonbury is definitely going to be my festival highlight – and will serve as a nice warm up to their massive gig in Leicester’s Victoria Park on July 6.

Unsurprisingly, I’m also going to that . . .

The Club Foot stars will take to the Woodsies ahead of Coldplay‘s headline slot across the farm on the Pyramid stage on Saturday.

Despite forming in 1997 it wasn’t until 2004 that Kasabian really took off on the back of their self-titled debut album.

I remember seeing them perform outside a bus stop on the high street in the early Noughties and it was a magical moment I’ll always treasure.

Since then Kasabian have had six No1 albums, with all but their first hitting the top.

I will be there front and centre lads, warm beer in hand and with a massive smile on my sunburned face.
