CHAD MICHAEL MURRAY has come a long way since his jock stereotype days of A Cinderella Story and One Tree Hill. That doesn’t mean he’s letting his muscle-packed, athlete physique go by the wayside, though.
Nowadays, fitness is all about being ready for whatever is coming next. “It’s always about being at your best,” he says. “Over the years I’ve learned how to stay mentally, physically, and spiritually centered so that I’m ready for my next project.”
With three kids and a starring role in Netflix’s Mother of the Bride, finding time in his busy schedule isn’t easy. He’s learned to plan ahead, and always finds a way to carve out time between shoots and family events to make his way to the gym. There, he’s embracing the pain.
“When I’m in the gym and I find something I really don’t like, I try to make it my favorite thing,” he says. “So right now, currently, [that’s] interval sprints, in the street when it’s really hot out.”
We caught up with the actor at the Men’s Health gym in NYC, where he showed us his typical upper body day.
