The Republicans have won enough seats to gain control of the United States House of Representatives, handing Donald Trump sweeping powers to enact his legislative agenda.
A victory in Arizona, coupled with wins in California on Wednesday, gave the Republicans the 218 House victories that make up the majority.
Alongside president-elect Trump, the party regained a majority in the Senate and, with the House, it will control the country’s governing trifecta.
