Hot off the silicon press! RPi releases the RP2350 microcontroller (video).

goooooood morning defcon attendees and all fans of microcontrollers – today is launch day for RasPi’s new microcontroller the RP2350! This chip has dual core Arm M33 (or RISC-V) processors, 520K RAM, 3 PIO state machines, HSTX peripheral, TrustZone security and better low power capabilities. an excellent upgrade to the RP2040 – RPi took everything folks asked for and baked it in to this upgraded chip. it’s also available in two package sizes: a QFN-60 (similar to the original RP2040) and a chonky QFN-80 with plenty of GPIO for driving 16-bit-wide peripherals or 3D printers.

The Pico 2 is also announced, it has the same pinout/peripheral connections as the original Pico but now with 4MB of flash and of course the RP2350. Adafruit has two designs coming out to start. First is Feather RP2350: a Feather pinout with 8MB flash, PSRAM spot, Stemma QT, SWD debug, NeoPixel, and a 22-pin HSTX port. Coming soon is the Metro RP2350 which brings ‘Arduino Shield’ compatibility – this has all of the above plus a MicroSD slot. There will be more soon once we stabilize our schematic so look forward to QT Py, KB2350, and maybe even a ‘Grand Central’ board!
