Holly Willoughby to host returning show on ITV

Must read

Dancing on Ice‘s Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern are reuniting to host a reboot of a classic game show.

ITV has confirmed that the pair will be fronting two episodes of a modern revival of You Bet!, which originally aired on ITV1 between 1988 and 1997.

This new version maintains the classic premise of You Bet! where teams of celebrities and the studio audience wager whether a contestant can complete a physical challenge.

At the end of each episode, the studio audience’s favourite challenger wins £10,000, while the celebrity team with the most correct guesses wins £10,000 for the charity of their choice.

“I’m so excited to be part of this iconic game show with the fabulous Stephen Mulhern,” Holly said. “I’m looking forward to seeing the astonishing skills on show from the challengers and which of our celebrity panellists can come out on top.”

Stephen added: “I loved You Bet! as a kid, so I’m very excited to be hosting this with the wonderful Holly Willoughby. From the big and spectacular to the unique and unexpected, I can’t wait to see what extraordinary skills the challengers have up their sleeves.”

ITV has commissioned a pair of 75-minute episodes to air this autumn, with firm transmission details to be announced in due course.

You Bet! is part of a stellar entertainment lineup for ITV and ITVX this Autumn, and we are thrilled to have Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern at the helm,” Katie Rawcliffe, ITV’s Head of Entertainment Commissioning, said in a statement.

“It’s great to be able to bring back this legendary game show alongside the likes of returning entertainment favourites I’m A Celeb, The Voice and the NTAs, plus brand-new series Password, Romesh Ranganathan’s Parents’ Evening, and Dress the Nation.”

You Bet! is based on the long-running German format Wetten, dass..? Sir Bruce Forsyth hosted the UK series before being replaced in later seasons by Matthew Kelly and Darren Day.

On top of this new game show commission, Holly is set to present the Netflix reality competition Bear Hunt and will presumably return for the next series of Dancing on Ice with Mulhern.

Dancing on Ice will return in 2025 on ITV1 and ITVX.
