A travel influencer is insisting that you add this European capital city to your bucket list after visiting the beautiful spot that ‘feels like stepping into a postcard’
A travel-lover is urging people to visit a “hidden gem” European city after she said it “truly took my breath away”.
Kristen, from Canada, travels a lot every year and shares the best locations to visit online. The content creator cannot get over how much she enjoyed Riga, in Latvia.
The capital city is a beauty – with jaw-dropping colourful buildings, a charming old town, busy nightlife, spas, and cheap activities, the spot offers a bit of everything. It is also home to the largest market in Europe where you can grab a bite to eat, taste some craft beer, or shop for Latvian jewellery. You can travel around the city mostly by walking.
After visiting, Kristen said: “I can’t believe I haven’t been before.”
She added: “Have you ever been to Riga, the capital of Latvia? This city is another European city I visited this fall that truly took my breath away.
“Nestled on the edge of the Baltic Sea, Riga is another city you’re definitely going to want to add to your Europe bucket list. Riga’s Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so there’s no surprise that strolling through it feels just like stepping into a postcard. I could have wandered the streets for days on end!”
Kristen said she loved exploring the city’s Old Town – thanks to its “tons” of museums, concert halls, and stunning architecture. Her favourite site seeing spots included the House of the Black Heads museum, Three Brothers museum, Livu Square, the skyline viewed from St Peter’s Church tower, Our Lady of Sorrows Church, and the Swedish Gate.
She also shared her top food and drink recommendations for Riga, including Black Magic Apothecary bar, Parunāsim Kafe’teeka café, Riga Central Market, Rozengrāls for an authentic Medieval meal, and Skyline Bar for cocktails.
“I had so much fun exploring Riga, and already can’t wait to go back some day,” she added. She dubbed the capital city “one of Europe’s best kept secrets”.
Commenting on the video, one individual agreed: “Riga is awesome.” “Such a great place,” said another. A third said: “Riga looks beautiful.”
A local said: “Thanks for a sweet video about my country.” One other added: “That’s in Latvia where I live. It’s good, go there please, trust me.”
The cheapest time of year to fly from UK to Latvia is usually September and it costs around £35, according to Skyscanner. Flights go from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, and Glasgow.
