Google has started to slowly roll out Android 15 to supported Pixel devices. Some users report that they have already gotten the update, but the mass rollout should happen later this week.

The Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro Fold are not on the list, but they will be updated too, of course. They did launch with Android 14, despite coming out later on September 9 instead of August 22 like the 9 and 9 Pro XL.

Android 15 is bringing a host of improvements, you can find the full list here. Highlights include a more efficient AV1 software decoder (dav1d), better PDF handling and superior font rendering, plus experimental support for ANGLE (Almost Native Graphics Layer Engine).

Users will be able to free up space on their devices by archiving apps. They will also have the option to create a Private space where they can keep sensitive apps under an extra layer of authentication. Additionally, new APIs will allow apps to pick power efficiency over performance for certain workloads.

There’s more: richer widget previews, picture-in-picture improvements, better Do Not Disturb rules, dedicated support for cover displays on foldables, satellite connectivity, improvements to NFC and Wallet, plus a huge improvement to large screen multitasking.
