Fans of Hairy Bikers became emotional as Si King shared a picture reflecting on good times with his late friend and co-star Dave Myers. Myers died on February 28, 2024, at the age of 66, with his family and friends by his side.
Taking to Instagram on Friday, sharing a snap of his beloved co-star, Si was reflective as he wrote: “Flashback Friday! This is a great shot. Si x”
Fans became emotional as they remembered the late chef. One commented, saying: “Aw… lovely!…miss him….[loveheart emoji].”
Another added: “That’s lovely. Not seen that one before.” Meanwhile, others commented saying they “missed” the star, while others simply left red love heart emojis.
The Geordie cooks worked closely together for more than two decades after creating countless beloved cooking shows as well as several cookbooks and live appearances.
In a vulnerable interview with The Times, Si previously opened up on how his friend’s death had impacted him. He said: “I’ll be honest with you, the past few months have been a struggle.
“More than once I was on the verge of jumping on my bike and heading into the sunset. Not telling anyone where I was going. Just clear off and never come back.
“Other times I was raging. Raging at that bloody disease, at God and anything else I could think of.”
The broadcaster revealed how difficult it was for the cast and crew to film their final series with Dave, knowing it would be his last. He admitted: “Oh God, that last series was by far the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to do in my entire life.
“The crew felt it too; some of whom had been with us since the start. All of us trying to carry on as normal, trying not to lose it. Some days it felt quite surreal, as though it wasn’t really happening. I just kept thinking, ‘It’s not fair, it’s not bloody fair’.”
The dynamic duo first met back in 1992 where Si recalled how their friendship “was sealed over a tandoori chicken masala, four popadoms and three pints of lager.”
