Guy Ritchie’s ‘The Gentlemen’ Renewed for Season 2 at Netflix

Must read

Guy Ritchie series “The Gentlemen” has been renewed for a second season.

The show, which stars Theo James and Kaya Scodelario as partners in crime, will return for eight episodes, with James and Scodelario set to reprise their roles as aristocrat Eddie Horniman and drug empire heiress Susie Glass, respectively. Ritchie will also return as director and writer, alongside co-writer Matthew Read.

Further cast will be announced in due course and filming will commence next year.

The first season followed Eddie’s exploits after he inherits his father’s country estate – and discovers Glass and her incarcerated father have been running a cannabis empire on it. Initially, he plans to extricate his family from the gangsters’ clutches but, as events unfold, Eddie realizes he not only has a taste for criminality but he’s pretty good at it too.

Season 1 found Eddie and his family – including brother Freddy (Daniel Ings), mother Lady Sabrina (Joely Richardson) and sister-in-law Tammy (Chanel Crewsswell) – encounter a series of less than salubrious characters, including gangs from Liverpool, Albania and the traveling community. Ings will also reprise his role in Season 2.

The show is set in the same universe as Ritchie’s 2019 Miramax film “The Gentlemen,” which starred Charlie Hunnam, Matthew McConaughey, Colin Farrell and Jeremy Strong, but does not have any overlapping characters.

Variety critic Aramide Tinubu described the series as “a brilliant show about legacy, family and the thrills of self-discovery….From the picturesque settings and costuming to the use of written on-screen text that helps the audience keep varied deals, people and schemes outlined, the show unfolds like a dazzling web of turmoil, keeping viewers sucked in over its eight episodes.”

Netflix U.K.’s content VP tells Variety: “With its gun-toting chickens and drug-dealing Dukes, ‘The Gentlemen’ was a huge hit with audiences in 2024. Not really a surprise as Guy Ritchie remains one of the industry’s most iconic creators telling authentically British stories with his signature swagger, grit and wit. We are thrilled the series will be returning to Netflix for a second season, and cannot wait to see what happens when the worlds of old money and drug money collide once more.”

“The Gentlemen” is produced by Moonage Pictures, with exec producers Ritchie, Moonage’s Read, Will Gould and Frith Tiplady and Marc Helwig for Miramax Television. Ivan Atkinson is also an executive producer.

The series is a Moonage Pictures Production for Netflix and Miramax Television.
