Most of us enjoy a cheat meal once in a while, but not Gurmeet Choudhary. The Ramayan actor recently revealed that he has given up on his favourite dish — samosa — for the sake of his physique. “It’s been 14 years since I last ate a samosa, even though I love them! That’s the kind of dedication it takes to maintain my physique,” the 40-year-old captioned his picture.

Choudhary, who is married to actor Debina Bonnerjee, added that he is extremely particular about working out and eating right. “Filming almost every day, yet never forgetting my workouts and diet. Stay focused, stay committed,” added Choudhary, who is a father to two daughters.

This is, however, not the first time that Choudhary has opened up about his dedication to fitness.

He often shares snapshots of his fitness journey on Instagram.

“It’s not about perfection; it’s about progress. Embrace the journey, honour the process, and watch as your temple transforms into a masterpiece,” he captioned a picture showing his sculpted physique.

Not just that, like Akshay Kumar, he also wakes up at dawn. “There’s something magical about hitting the weights at 4 AM. It’s not just a workout, it’s a ritual. Setting the tone for the day, one rep at a time,” Choudhary captioned another post.

In another post, he shared how exercise and clean eating are the mainstay of his fitness journey. “Crafting the body of your dreams isn’t just about lifting weights or sticking to a strict diet – it’s about the relentless pursuit of excellence in every aspect of your life. From the moment you wake up, fueling your body with clean, nutrient-dense foods sets the stage for success. Then, it’s time to hit the gym, where each rep, each set, is a testament to your dedication and determination. But it doesn’t stop there.”

“Every day is an opportunity to push yourself further, whether it’s through intense sprints or kickboxing sessions. It’s about embracing the grind, the sweat, the struggle, knowing that each obstacle overcome brings you closer to your goals. And when you look in the mirror and see the results of your hard work – the definition in your muscles, the confidence in your stance – you’ll know that every sacrifice was worth it. So keep pushing, keep striving, and remember, the journey to a beautiful body is just as rewarding as the destination,” he continued.

Taking a cue from his incredible self-restraint and consistency, let’s decode what it takes to build and maintain a chiselled physique.

Fitness expert Tarundeep Singh Rekhi stresses that transforming your body is a journey tailored to your physique. “It’s more than just lifting weights and calorie deficits; it’s about optimising macros, prioritising adequate protein intake for muscle sustainability, and adding micros for overall vitality,” said Rekhi in an earlier interaction.

Cutting down refined carbohydrates, avoiding sugars and trans fats should be a lifestyle norm and if one pays heed to it for a few weeks it is not hard to maintain it for the long-term, Dr Dilip Gude, senior consultant physician, Yashoda Hospitals Hyderabad told indianexpress.com.
