Rockstar’s track record, combined with the decade-long wait, has made the anticipation almost unbearable.

GTA 6 Revenue Projections and Industry Experts

Recent projections from analysts at DFC Intelligence suggest that the game will pull in an astonishing $3.2 billion in its first year, with analysts forecasting $1 billion in preorders before it even launches. As highlighted in a recent Financial Times report, these figures suggest that GTA 6 could redefine entertainment benchmarks, with its projected revenue surpassing most blockbuster films.

Yoshio Osaki, CEO of IDG Consulting, noted the anticipation around the title, calling it “one of the biggest entertainment launches in history, not just in games but for all of media.”

Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, the game’s publisher, echoed this sentiment, stating, “I think Rockstar Games will once again deliver something absolutely phenomenal.”

Financial Times quoted Zelnick, who cautiously addressed the lofty expectations: “I never claim victory before it occurs… but the anticipation is high.” And it’s easy to see why. GTA 6 isn’t just another game—it’s an event.

While official details are scarce, the GTA community has been working overtime to fill in the blanks. Theories about a second trailer dropping on December 27, 2024, flooded social media, only for the day to pass without any new footage. Some fans worry that a rumored delay might push the release to 2026, though insiders suggest this is unlikely.

In related news, actor Johnny Ray Gill hinted at his involvement in a Rockstar project, fueling speculation about the game’s cast. Meanwhile, other developers are strategically moving their own launches to avoid competing with GTA 6’s release window.
