GTA 6 On Target To Release Fall 2025, Red Dead Passes 90 Million Sales – RockstarINTEL

Must read

GTA 6 is still set to release in Fall 2025 say Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive. During Take-Two Interactive’s Q1 2025 quarterly earnings presentation, CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed the success of Rockstar Games’ titles over the past three months.

In the previous quarterly report, GTA 6’s launch window was narrowed down from 2025 to Fall 2025. Take-Two also said they were highly confident that Rockstar Games “will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience” on time for Fall 2025.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information is released by Take-Two Interactive.

Grand Theft Auto V sells well but decline appears

Take-Two Interactive revealed that Grand Theft Auto V sold over 200 million copies, but not much up from hitting 200m in May. Grand Theft Auto V normally sells an average of 5 million every month so this is down compared to most prior months for the past several years. The total sales of the Grand Theft Auto series is now at over 430 million copies worldwide, up 5 million in the past 3 months.

Last month that GTA V was the most downloaded PS5 game of June thanks to the Bottom Dollar Bounties DLC. GTA V was also the 2nd best selling game in all of Europe when all disc and digital sales were combined.

CEO Strauss Zelnick said GTA V exceeded expectations last quarter. Plus, momentum is building ahead of GTA VI’s release. Meanwhile GTA Online “surpassed projections” due to the Bottom Dollar Bounties DLC. However, Take-Two do expect a decline in the future. He also said “We’ve been open minded and we’re excited what the modding community do with GTA”.

As for GTA Online’s subscription service, GTA+, it has seen growth once again. Take-Two state it has has seen “strong” double digit increase new members over last year.

Red Dead Redemption 2 hits 65m copies sold

Red Dead Redemption 2 sold an extra three million copies in the last 3 months. This means Red Dead Redemption 2 has now sold over 65 million copies worldwide, up from 64 million in May. In total, the Red Dead Series has now sold over 91 million copies, up from 89m last time. Take-Two say they are pleased with Red Dead 2’s performance last quarter.

Again, this all should not come as a surprise given Red Dead Redemption 2 was second most downloaded PS4 game in North America for 3 months in a row last quarter.

We’re also now 1 from the re-release of Red Dead Redemption 1 on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Rockstar Games leaked it is coming to PC a few months ago but they have remained silent. We’ll have to see if that ends up coming out in the next quarter. No doubt that port will sell plenty of copies and bump up the series total even more.
