The Groucho Club, once seen as a hedonistic beacon for London’s celebrities and arts crowd, has temporarily closed its doors while police investigate a criminal offence.
The licence of the 39-year-old private members club in Soho, central London, was suspended after allegations that a “serious crime” had occurred at the site.
The decision to shut down the club followed a request from the Metropolitan Police to Westminster council, which revoked the licence with immediate effect given the seriousness of the claim.
