A groom discovered that his spouse was actually a man less than two weeks after their wedding.

The Indonesian man, known as AK, met Adinda Kanza on social media in 2023 and dated for a year.

He met Kanza multiple times, with the latter often wearing a traditional Muslim niqab that would cover her whole face, which he perceived was due to her devotion to the religion of Islam.

Despite only seeing each other for a short period of time, the couple decided to tie the knot, and hosted an intimate ceremony at AK’s home after his bride-to-be told him that she didn’t have any family.

However, following their wedding on 12 April, Kanza refused to be intimate with him.

He reportedly began to grow suspicious as she would continually cite feeling unwell or being on her period as reasons as to why she couldn’t, according to the South China Morning Post.

As well as this, AK claimed that Kanza didn’t speak to his family at all and kept wearing her niqab at home.

He then did some investigating, discovering her former address 12 days after their wedding and found her parents were alive and well.

They revealed to him that ‘Adinda Kanza’ was actually a man, known as ESH, who’d began to cross-dress in 2020.

They were also unaware of the fact that their son was in a relationship, let alone him being married.

Police did later get involved, but said that Kanza behaved like a woman and had a feminine voice, adding: “If you look at their wedding photos, Adinda looks exactly like a real woman.

“He also has a gentle voice and tone, so there was no suspicion at all about him being a woman.”

ESH was arrested by police after AK’s parents reported the matter to them and later revealed to them that he’d wanted to marry AK to steal his family’s assets, according to local media reports.

He is now facing fraud charges and could sentence him to up to four years behind bars.

The investigation is ongoing.
