Great British Bake Off’s Alison Hammond accidentally falls minutes into show

Must read

Great British Bake Off’s Alison Hammond took an embarrassing tumble just moments into the show.

The popular Channel 4 baking competition returned with five amateur bakers facing off in 70s week, as they tried to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith with their delicious bakes.

But minutes into the TV show, the This Morning host suffered an awkward tumble while her co-host Noel Fielding introduced the show.

The show opened as the comedian teased viewers about the daring signatures, challenging technical and jaw-dropping show-stopper challenges the bakers will embark on.

He began: “Now it is the 70s week but it’s still a very serious, sophisticated show so we won’t be doing any of those cliches like disco balls – apart from Paul Hollywood’s.

“And we certainly won’t be doing lava lamps, as I said, this is a serious affair. Welcome to the Great British Bake Off.” It’s at this point that the Brummy beauty could be seen bouncing across screen on an orange space hopper in the background.

Alison bounced around behind Nole shouting: “Ride the pony, baby. Ride the pony” as Noel caved and asked for a turn, adding: “That does look quite fun, give us a go.”

It was at this point that the presenter took a tumble off the piece of exercise equipment on the plush green lawn. Her co-star immediately rushed over to her as he helped pull her off the ground while he asked: “Are you okay?”

But her clumsiness didn’t end there, as the broadcaster attempted to get the bakers to show off their dance moves during the Technical challenge. After being refused by all the competitiors, Alison decided to take it upon herself to wow the viewers on her own.

The TV host quickly jumped up on an unoccupied bench at the back of the tent and swung her legs up in the air in a fanning motion.

Things took a turn when she fell backwards over the bench as the tent errupted into laughter. Noel once again rushed over to assist her despite the presenter insisting: “Leave me alone!”

It didn’t take long before fans flooded to the comments to giggle at her expense online. One user penned: “#GBBO So funny this week with Alison diving around [three cry-laughing emojis].”

Another agreed: “We’re not quite sure what Alison was trying to do, but don’t try this at home! #GBBO.” as a third echoed: “Alison Hammond falling over the kitchen counter was TV gold lol #GBBO.”

Great British Bake Off airs on Tuesdays from 8pm on Channel 4 or catch up on All 4.
