Cardi B, real name Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, has cancelled an upcoming performance after revealing she has been hospitalised for the past few days.
The rapper, 32, took to social media on Wednesday to reveal that she had experienced a ‘medical emergency’, meaning she is unable to perform at an Atlanta-based weekend music festival.
‘I am so sad to share this news, but I’ve been in the hospital recovering from a medical emergency the last couple of days and I won’t be able to perform at ONE MusicFest.’
‘It breaks my heart that I won’t get to see my fans this weekend and I really wish I could be there. Bardi Gang – thank you for understanding and I’ll be back better and stronger soon. Don’t worry. Love yall. – Cardi,’ she said in the heartfelt post.
The singer was set to be one of the lead artists of the weekend, which costs $230 (£178) for a two-day pass. Cardi was scheduled to perform on Saturday night alongside Earth, Wind & Fire, Nelly and Fantasia.
Sunday night will see Gunna, Jill Scott, and Victoria Monet headline the stage in Central Park, Atlanta.
The artist, who won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album in 2019, has experienced a few medical issues in recent months – only fuelling concern from loyal fans.
Fans rushed to support the artist on Instagram. ‘I’m so glad you’re taking care of yourself❤️Your health matters. Don’t worry we will show up proud and louder as ever at your next gig!!! We love you and I pray you get better! @iamcardib,’ said queenlacardi2.0.
‘You just had a baby go relax the concerts will be there. Get well love,’ said rocquel1086.
‘Definitely a setback moving too fast gotta rest up fr and give your body time to heal from having a whole baby..’ commented _bosslady_nicol3.
In August, the rapper revealed she was left ‘literally paralysed’ in a freak accident that almost caused her to have a miscarriage.
In a message in an X spaces chat, the musician revealed: ‘I had a f*****g freak accident. That’s what I have to explain I don’t know how something – well, it wasn’t little, it actually hurt.
‘It doesn’t really happen often, but it became so big to the point I was literally paralysed. And that little thing almost cost me my little one to come. But it didn’t.’
She revealed that she fell down a flight of stairs which caused her to dialate. She had to stay on bed rest and was given morphine to help with the pain.
In September, the rap star gave birth to her third child. The artist is also mum to daughter Kulture and son Wave and shared images of her children with their siblings in celebration of the birth.
She also shared sweet images of her baby daughter bonding with her father, Cardi’s former partner Offset.
Offset and Cardi have been going through divorce proceedings for some time and have been in an on-again-off-again relationship for several years.
