Graduate Fashion Week wrapped up with the announcement of the winners of this year’s ‘Best of GFW24’ Show and Alice Daggett from Winchester School of Art nabbed the GFW24 Gold Catwalk Award.

Meanwhile the Silver winner was Patrik Platko from Coventry University and Elizaveta Lykova from Cambridge School of Visual Arts & Performing Arts University took Bronze.

Daggett’s collection was inspired by her heritage and upbringing in Yorkshire and she said that “everything I design is to enable women to feel empowered through garments with timeless elegance”.

Meanwhile Platko’s collection focused on celebrating uniforms and workers in uniforms with the designer “re-imaging classical uniform silhouettes, and almost the whole collection made from existing garments and accessories which were repurposed”.

During the event, three international students were recognised for their outstanding collections and also awarded gold, silver, and bronze awards. The Gold award was presented to Peter Shonoda from Savannah College of Art and Design in the US.

Sasandi De Silva from the Academy of Design, Sri Lanka was awarded the Silver prize, and the Bronze award went to Sumeng Sun from the College of Fashion and Design of Donghua University, China.

Established in 1991 by Graduate Fashion Foundation, Graduate Fashion Week remains a key global graduate talent event and as such is backed by a variety of retailers and brands including Next, Debenhams, Zalando and Calvin Klein/Tommy Hilfiger owner PVH.

It also has some heavyweight lifetime patrons such as Christopher Bailey, Nick Knight, Victoria Beckham, Christopher Raeburn and Zandra Rhodes.
