Good Morning Britain halted as Lorraine Kelly issues huge announcement

Lorraine Kelly was congratulated by Susanna Reid as she issued a huge announcement.

During Monday’s instalment (June 24) of Good Morning Britain, Susanna and co-host Adil Ray turned to Lorraine to find out what was coming up on her show.

However, the ITV programme came to an abrupt halt as Susanna, 53, begged Lorraine to share her news – instead of discussing Scotland’s defeat to Hungary in the Euros.

She said: “Lorraine is here. We’re going to skirt over the disappointment Lorraine because you’re celebrating something very special.

The Scottish broadcaster then revealed that her daughter Rosie, who is expecting her first child, is engaged to her partner Steve.

She gushed: “It’s fantastic, he is wonderful.” An image of Rosie then appeared on screen, showcasing her at dinner on holiday while flashing her huge diamond ring.

Sharing details about the engagement, Lorraine continued: “He’s had the ring for quite some time, got it sorted out, did the whole thing.”

The presenter revealed that Rosie’s partner asked her husband of 32 years Steve Smith for permission before getting down on one knee. She added: “It’s fantastic. Some much-needed happy news.”

Susanna exclaimed: “Congratulations to Rosie and her Steve, and to you and your Steve.” Nodding her head, Lorraine confessed to her co-star that it gets “quite confusing” when both Steves are in their household.

“We’ll have to sort that out at some stage,” she laughed, adding: “But it’s great, I will get a son! It’s just lovely. He’s a smashing fella and a lovely family so we’re absolutely delighted.”

Back in April, Rosie announced she was expecting her first child. Taking to Instagram, the 30-year-old shared a photo of her blossoming baby bump, writing: “We could not be more excited – you’re already so loved little one.” She also posted a framed scan photo with the caption: “The bean at 12 weeks – the size of a fig.”

Expressing her excitement at becoming a grandma, Lorraine wrote: “THE most exciting thing to have ever happened in our family! Cannot wait to be a granny and so proud of Rosie and her Steve. It’s the best news EVER!”

The ITV host added: “We could not be more excited – you’re already so loved little one.”
