Golf fans react to Rory McIlroy’s bombshell divorce U-turn

Must read

Fans across social media reacted to the news that Rory McIlroy has ended his divorce proceedings with his wife, Erica Stoll.

McIlroy’s attorney, Thomas Sasser, filed a Notice of Voluntary Dismissal on his client’s behalf in Palm Beach County Courthouse on Tuesday afternoon.

The court responded by closing the case, meaning the 35-year-old golfer will need to start from the beginning if he changes his mind on the divorce.

This comes less than a month after the 36-year-old Stoll was served papers at the couple’s home in Jupiter, Florida, informing her that McIlroy wished to back out of the marriage.

It also comes two days before McIlroy is set to tee off in the first round of the US Open at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina.

Hopefully, no one is going to try and convince me the PGA isn’t scripted this year… it’s like a poorly written soap opera at this point.

I can’t imagine being with a man who’s accused of cheating with someone he sees often at his workplace, and the whole world believes it, whether it’s true or not. That’s some strength,’ wrote LPGA golfer Jenny Shin.

‘Must have been a framework divorce agreement,’ joked one person
