Glastonbury announces major change to ticket-buying process

Glastonbury Festival’s infamous ticket-buying bloodbath just made a serious change and fans are officially worried for November 14.

The legendary festival – which will take place on Worthy Farm on June 25 to 29 – has always been a total ticketing free-for-all all, as fans simply repeatedly refresh glastonbury.seetickets.com in the hope they will get the timing just right to swoop into the purchase room.

But the days of hard F5 refreshes every few seconds are officially behind us, and hopefuls will be instead staring at their screen in what will likely be a very, very long queue.

The festival has revealed: ‘The booking process itself for 2025 will be the same as in previous years, however the way in which you join the booking process is changing.

‘Rather than refreshing the holding page to attempt to access the booking page, this year, when the ticket sale begins (at 6pm or 9am respectively) everyone who is already on the glastonbury.seetickets.com page will randomly be assigned a place in a queue to access the booking process.’

There is now going to be a queue system (Picture: Glastonbury)

‘Anyone who logs on once the sale has started will automatically be added to the back of the queue, so it’s important to make sure you are online ready at least a few minutes before the sale opens.

‘Once you are in the queue, a progress bar will indicate how close you are to reaching the booking page.’

The festival also stressed: ‘Please do not refresh this page or use multiple devices or tabs or you may lose your place in the queue.’

Once you get to the front of the queue, business resumes as normal, and festival hopefuls will enter registration numbers and postcodes for themselves and up to five other people.

Don’t use this opportunity to make a cup of tea though – obviously – as you will only have 10 minutes to complete the booking, and can always be booted out at a moment’s notice. Gulp.

So, what does this mean for your chances?

Well, some fans aren’t keen on the change, as @RyanHudson2009 said, ‘Oh this is horrible news,’ on the post sharing the news by Glasto-mad X account, TheGlastoThingy, who chatted to Metro last year all about survival tips.

Fellow Worthy Farm X enthusiasts @Glastopia pointed out: ‘So now a huge amount of people that couldn’t be bothered trying past the first 5mins and sat and moaned on Twitter during the sale can sit there with equal chance… Think it’s terrible news.’

@TheGlastoThingy agreed, adding: ‘This is the bad bit. We relied on people who weren’t that arsed giving up.’

But then again, a big old queue could put some people off – seeing that they are 500,000 people off from bagging a golden ticket.

Others thought the change might not make a huge amount of difference, as @NaomiAJohnson said: ‘Down to luck every single time you hit F5 Vs down to luck the one millisecond you get allocated a place in the queue.’

When do Glastonbury 2025 tickets go on sale?

Glastonbury Festival tickets for 2025 will go on sale this month, with coach ticket packages available on Thursday, November 14 at 6pm and general admission tickets available on Sunday, November 17 at 9am.

Some fans remembered the Oasis 2025 tour ticket debacle, as @GlastoPhot0 added: ‘Oh ffs! Nooooooo. This was a nightmare for Oasis tickets.’

‘Let’s hope it’s better than it was for Oasis tickets! Got to number 1 in the queue and got chucked out when taking me to booking page,’ added @fpl__Incognito.

While Glastonbury never confirms its line up before tickets go on sale, there’s been some mutterings about who could be taking on the Pyramid Stage top spot.

These include Olivia Rodrigo, Fred Again, Sam Fender, Harry Styles, Eminem, Madonna, and Billy Joel.

May the odds be ever in your favour…
