Getac has launched its next-generation K120 tablet, designed to meet the needs of professionals in rugged industries such as public safety, manufacturing, and utilities. This new model promises to be a highly versatile and durable digital solution, able to withstand the harsh operational scenarios these sectors often face, including accidental knocks, drops, spillages, and extreme weather conditions.

Among the notable upgrades in the next-generation K120 is the inclusion of a powerful Intel Core 13th generation i5/i7 vPro processor with integrated Iris Xe graphics. This provides superior computing performance. Additionally, the Wi-Fi 6E technology enhances data transfer speed and reliability. The tablet also comes standard with two Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports, a dual SIM card slot (Micro-SIM, 3FF, and e-SIM), and a user-removable SSD, allowing for flexible data management on the move.

For professionals with advanced communication and navigation needs, there are options for 4G-LTE with integrated GPS and 5G Sub-6 with L1/L5 GPS. A dedicated GPS module is also available for even greater navigational accuracy. The device’s 12.5-inch LumiBond display, with 1,200 nits of brightness, makes it suitable for tasks that require the simultaneous viewing of large amounts of data, such as command-and-control operations, schematics, or complex multi-stage maintenance activities.

The K120 tablet is designed to ensure productivity throughout extended field activities, featuring a dual hot-swappable battery design that supports full-shift productivity when away from charging facilities or when demounted from a vehicle dock. Versatility is a key feature of the new K120, offering multiple operating modes including standard tablet mode, laptop mode, presentation mode, convertible mode (when used with a keyboard dock), tilt mode (when used with a hard handle), and docking mode (when used with a vehicle or office dock).

Built to withstand challenging environments, the next-generation K120 boasts rugged design features including IP66 and MIL-STD-810H certification, making it resistant to vibration and drops up to 6ft (1.8m). It also operates within a wide temperature range of -29C to 63C (-20F to 145F), ensuring reliability in diverse conditions.

James Hwang, President of Getac Technology, highlighted the increasing demand for rugged digital solutions in various industries. “As more rugged industries embrace digital transformation, a growing number of organisations need devices they can use to replace traditional pen and paper processes in the field, on the factory floor, at remote facilities, and everywhere in-between,” he stated. “The next-gen K120 meets this need perfectly, combining the versatility and portability of a tablet with the powerful performance and screen size of a fully rugged laptop, helping customers streamline processes and optimise productivity across the board.”
