Liverpool youngster Jarell Quansah has remained with the England squad after being cut from the final 26-man Euro 2024 roster in order to act as cover for injury.
Gareth Southgate confirmed the team that will travel to Germany for the tournament set to get underway next week, with the most notable omissions of Jack Grealish, Harry Maguire and James Maddison.
Additionally, Quansah and his Reds team-mate Curtis Jones, Jarrad Branthwaite as well as Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford were also cut.
Speaking on Thursday following the announcement of his squad, Southgate revealed that the 21-year-old – who enjoyed a breakout season at Anfield – has been placed on the standby list, should injuries befall his team between now and the end of their final warm-up game against Iceland on Friday night.
‘Jarell Quansah has stayed with us.’ The Three Lions boss said. ‘Hopefully we are not needing to call anybody else in.’

Harry Maguire (middle) will miss out playing at the tournament after being unable to recover from a calf injury
While, Grealish and Maddison missed out on selection due to poor league campaigns, Maguire failed to make the squad after being unable to recover from a calf injury.
The defender missed his side’s final four Premier League games and the FA Cup final win over Manchester City last month. He spoke of his devastation at missing out in a social media post on Thursday and claimed that ‘I pushed myself too hard, to try and make it.’
Southgate echoed his statement and revealed that the 31-year-old simply wasn’t able to prove his fitness for the tournament.
‘There were too many hurdles without being clear where we would get to.’ He added. ‘Another really difficult call. You know how I feel about Harry Maguire and what he’s done for England and what he’s done for me as a manager.’
