A manhunt has been launched after a 16-year-old boy was killed in a hit-and-run incident in County Kildare.
Gardaí say they are currently at the scene of the fatal collision that occurred at Robertstown shortly after midnight.
“The collision, which involved a vehicle and a pedestrian occurred on the R403 in Blackwood near Robertstown, County Kildare at approximately 12.30am. The vehicle involved in the collision failed to remain at the scene,” said a garda spokesperson.
The male pedestrian, 16, was fatally injured and his body has since been removed from the scene to the mortuary at Naas General Hospital.

Motorists are being advised the R403 in Blackwood is currently closed, between Graiges Cross and Dagwelds Cross, pending a forensic examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users who were travelling in the vicinity of Blackwood and Robertstown at the time of the collision and who may have camera footage are asked to contact gardaí and to make the footage available.
