Galaxy Z Flip 6 will be a super upgrade for aggressive Galaxy Z Flip 3 users

Must read

Samsung’s clamshell Galaxy Z Flip foldables offer customers a user experience that’s mostly on par with other Galaxy flagships. However, the clamshell form factor forces Samsung to make some sacrifices.

One such sacrifice is battery capacity. The first two Galaxy Z Flips—the OG Galaxy Z Flip and the Galaxy Z Flip 3—had paltry 3,300 mAh batteries that necessitated charging twice a day.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 was the first phone in the series to get mainstream attention, and there are many who are using it today. Their biggest complaint? Battery life.

A 3,300 mAh battery simply isn’t enough for any smartphone in this day and age. It’s especially low for phones with a flagship processor and high-end features like a 120Hz display.

Samsung brought a larger battery to the lineup with the Galaxy Z Flip 4. The Z Flip 4 sports a 3,700 mAh battery, and so does 2023’s Galaxy Z Flip 5. The larger capacity brought some battery life gains on those models, but the gains were not major enough to entice Galaxy Z Flip 3 owners.

Galaxy Z Flip 3 users will get a huge battery upgrade with the Flip 6

But Samsung is all set to change that. The upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 6 will feature a 4,000 mAh battery, and with the efficient Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip under its hood, we can expect some serious battery life improvements.

The base Galaxy S24 model has a 4,000 mAh battery under the hood, and whether you get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 variant or the one powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2400, the Galaxy S24 offers excellent endurance on a single charge.

There is no reason the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will be any different. In fact, since the cover screen on Galaxy Z Flip smartphones can be used for tasks such as taking selfies, checking notifications, and replying to messages, those who purchase a Flip 6 will be able to get more mileage compared to Galaxy S24 users, as they won’t have to use the more power-hungry main display for everything.

For Galaxy Z Flip 3 owners, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will also offer upgrades like a bigger cover screen, brighter foldable display, 50MP primary camera, substantially faster performance, more storage, and faster charging.

It will also include the full Galaxy AI package that isn’t available on the Galaxy Z Flip 3. Last but not least, Samsung is likely to guarantee seven years of updates for the Galaxy Z Flip 6, which will make its software considerably more future-proof.

Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 6 at its Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris on July 10.
