TUBE drivers are being offered a four-day working week by Sadiq Khan’s Transport for London to stop strike action.
Union Aslef says members will work 35 hours a week — two and a half fewer than their current deal — and get a 3.8 per cent pay rise.
They will also get a one-off £450 increase plus free meal breaks.
The Tories called the agreement a “total capitulation” to the unions.
Passengers faced travel misery across the London Underground on Tuesday before the offer was tabled. TfL said: “There are still details that need to be worked through.”
Gareth Bacon, shadow transport secretary, said the move was a “sell-out” by London mayor Sadiq Khan.
He added: “The purpose of a transport system is to serve the passengers.
“Aslef are boasting about getting a deal with massively reduced hours and an above inflation pay rise for their members – in other words, enhanced pay for less work.”
A TfL spokesperson said: “As with any proposal, there are still details that need to be worked through and any changes would need to be mutually beneficial, preserving or improving the reliability of our service for our customers and improving efficiency.
“We will continue discussions with our unions.”
