FUJIFILM has announced a new entry-level mirrorless hybrid called the X-M5 alongside a new pair of lenses, the XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR II zoom lens and the XF 500mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR super-telephoto lens.

Despite being an entry-level camera, the X-M5 is still capable of recording up to 6.2K @29.97fps in 10-bit.
The camera utilizes a 26.1MP APS-C X-Trans 4 CMOS Sensor, and a large 3.0″ 1.04m-Dot Tilting Touchscreen in a small-sized and lightweight body.
The X-M5 also includes 20 Film Simulation modes that you can choose from, eight of which can be accessed on the dial directly and three that can be user-selected and assigned to the three FS settings on the dial.
Film Simulation modes allow you to reproduce the look and feel of several of FUJIFILM’s film types. The X-M5 boasts FUJIFILM’s latest recipe-REALA ACE-and also includes 19 other modes, including Provia, Velvia, Astia, Classic Chrome, PRO Neg.Std, PRO Neg. Hi, Classic Neg., Nostalgic Neg., Eterna Cinema, Eterna Bleach Bypass, Acros, Acros + Ye Filter, Acros + R Filter, Acros + G Filter, Black & White, Black & White + Ye Filter, Black & White + R Filter, Black & White + G Filter, and Sepia.
In addition to simulating specific film types, a Grain Effect mode is also available to replicate the look of old film photos with an organic textured appearance, which is especially noticeable when printing. Color Chrome and Color Chrome Blue effects are also available to deepen color, tonal response, and gradation with higher saturation colors.
There are also a couple of other interesting shooting modes. Short Movie Mode, which allows the user to select the desired time for their short movie and once the record button is pressed it automatically crops to a 9:16 vertical format without needing to rotate the camera. It also allows you to share directly to social media from the X App. Another is the product Priority Mode, which automatically switches focus to a product placed in front of the camera, this is ideal for product reviews and reveals.

XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR II
The XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR II APS-C lens offers a decent focal range at a constant f/2.8 aperture in a lightweight and easy-to-carry package.

XF 500mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR
The new XF 500mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR is a super-telephoto prime for APS-C cameras. A 500mm prime is a pretty niche lens, but it will probably be popular with bird photographers and some sports shooters.

The lens offers the longest prime lens coverage in the current X Series lens lineup. It features a lightweight design that weighs in at just 453g / 3 lb. It is claimed to feature a fast, accurate linear autofocus motor.
It also has 5.5 stops of Optical Image Stabilizer and an Arca-type tripod collar and is compatible with optional teleconverters to further boost reach to up to 1524mm.
