Fitness fans put themselves to the test in Bury St Edmunds as they battled it out to be named the town’s fittest in a tough physical challenge.
The second annual Bury’s Fittest competition was held at Moreton Hall Health Club, in Mount Road, on Saturday, with nearly 100 competitors in teams of four battling it out in womens, mixed and mens categories.
Billed as ‘the ultimate fitness competition’ celebrating strength, determination and fun – each team had to complete nine specified exercises, with a 10-minute time cap on each exercise. The tough competition course took 90 minutes.
The teams with the fastest times were in line for prizes including £200 cash for each winning team, while an engraved trophy was up for grabs for the overall winners.
Amy Istead, co-owner of the club, said: “It was a good day. We had lots of people come along and watch during the day and then enjoy the after-party and band.

“It was brilliant to see so many people from lots of other clubs. Everyone was so nice from the otehr clubs, there was a friendly yet competive feel to the whole day, with a really great atmosphere throughout.
“The competition itself was a lot bigger than last year. We will do it again in 2025 – when it will be even bigger again.”
Teams from CrossFit Beorn won the mixed and men’s competitions, while the Couch Potatoes team was victorious in the ladies category.
The Meet and Greet food truck was on site serving food throughout the day, while live band Route 66 played straight after the winners’ presentation. An after-party was held at Verve, in the topwn centre.
