It doesn’t get much better than claiming free video games or DLC, but what about a swanky new PlayStation 5 Pro console?

After months of speculation, Sony finally announced that the PlayStation 5 Pro is real and will launch later this week. The PS5 Pro will boast improved resolution and ray tracing while performing at a higher framerate.

As well as being able to pick up the Pro console in the traditional PlayStation 5 white palette, if you were lucky, you might have placed an order for the gorgeous 30th Anniversary edition, inspired by the OG console released in 1994.

“A legacy colour scheme that pays homage to the legendary original PlayStation console, which launched on 3 December 1994. Each Limited Edition PS5 Pro console for sale is individually numbered as a collector’s item, and only 12,300 of these numbered consoles will be available for customers to purchase globally,” reads the product description.

Unfortunately for most PlayStation gamers, picking up that anniversary console was a near-impossible task with much of its stock being gobbled up by greedy scalpers looking to resell the console for egregious profits.

If you were one of those gamers who missed out on pre-ordering the 30th Anniversary PlayStation 5 Pro console, there is seemingly one last hope and that’s winning an official competition with Sony.

“For the chance to win a 30th Anniversary PS5 Digital Edition, reply to this post with a photo of when you were gifted a PlayStation and tell us the story behind it,” tweeted PlayStation UK. “Christmas or birthday, from PS1 to PS5.”

Granted, the chances of you winning this competition are very low given how many entries it will generate, but it’s got to be worth a shot, right?

The standard white PlayStation 5 Pro will be released on 7 November while its 30 Anniversary counterpart will launch on 21 November 2024.
