Fortnite Players Aren’t Happy About New Quests

Fortnite players are not happy about the Katalina skin’s mobile quest exclusivity. Chapter 5 Season 4 of Fortnite has been teased for plenty of time by leakers and Epic Games, with drip feeds of information showing off exciting collaborations and an array of new things to do. Many players are excited to get their hands on the new skins that have been shown off for Season 4, but now that they’re finally in the game, some feel as if there’s a catch to the fun.

Chapter 5 Season 4 of Fortnite brings forward a vast new slate of exclusive items that players are excited about, but one of the biggest changes of the season is the game’s reintroduction to Apple devices. Epic Games and Apple have had a historic dispute over the developer’s access to the Apple Store, and the Epic Games Store has made a return to iOS in some areas, mainly Europe, for now.

Social media user Ok-Opening8240 has shared their discontent after seeing Fortnite mobile bonus quests available but not being able to get the Katalina skin reward for them. Most of the time, players can get new Fortnite skins with V-Bucks or through grinding the battle pass, but players who want the new Katalina skin in Fortnite might just have to wait. Getting Katalina requires a mobile download of Fortnite, but the Epic Games Store isn’t available on iPhones in many regions. Even if these players finish these quests, they can’t get Katalina.

Fortnite Players Miss Out on Katalina Skin

Users who have responded to Ok-Opening8240 have pointed out how they feel this is possibly a sneaky way for Epic Games to incentivize Fortnite item shop purchases. The quests associated with the skin become unavailable on November 2 at 2 AM EST, so there’s a chance she could become available in the item shop following that.

There’s always a chance that the Fortnite team will find a way to introduce new ways to get Katalina, but the odds are that it would be a different version of the skin. Making the current version of Katalina obtainable through non-mobile quests would defeat the current purpose of the skin’s availability. Even while making mistakes like with Fortnite‘s accidental Paradigm skin re-release, Epic Games has emphasized the value of skin exclusivity.

It is unclear whether this complaint is something the Fortnite team will address head-on. Usually, Epic Games is very responsive to fan demands and complaints, but budging on the availability of Katalina could diminish the principle of adding skins like that in the first place. There’s a chance that the developers are hoping the new Marvel Fortnite skins are enough to keep gamers happy for the season, but plenty of fans just want the Katalina skin.
