Foreign Office Turkey travel warning over issue which ‘affects many areas’

UK tourists heading for Turkey are being warned of an issue affecting parts of the country this summer. The Foreign Office said holidaymakers need to be aware of extreme weather hitting the country.

Brits are now being told to make sure they prepare for harsh weather conditions, including scorching temperatures. In an update on Friday (June 28), the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) issued new information on extreme temperatures.




Many parts of Turkey could be affected by ‘extreme temperatures’, it warned. The FCDO said: “Extreme temperatures can affect many areas of Turkey over the summer months.

“The NHS has information on how to cope in hot weather.” Heatwaves have been sweeping across many parts of Europe in recent weeks.

Earlier this month, Antalya, in Turkey, saw highs topping 40C. In its advice for coping with heatwaves, the NHS said: “Most of us welcome hot weather, but when it’s too hot, there are health risks.

“During heatwaves, more people than usual get seriously ill or die. If hot weather hits this summer, make sure it does not harm you or anyone you know.”
