The meat-free burgers pose a burn risk to customers

Tesco said: “We’re recalling all batches of Tesco Plant Chef 2 Meat-Free Burgers with Melting Middle 240g, due to the centre of the burgers maintaining a high temperature once cooked.

“This could potentially cause a burn risk to customers when eating.”

Customers with the batches highlighted can return them to stores or get more information from customer services.

The supermarket continued: “If you’ve bought an affected product, please don’t eat it. Instead, return to any Tesco store for a full refund.

“No receipt is required. For any further enquiries, please contact our Customer Service Team on O800 505 555.”

The Food Standards Agency shared more information on recalls. It added: “If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product).

“The FSA issues Product Withdrawal Information Notices and Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food.

“In some cases, a ‘Food Alert for Action’ is issued. This provides local authorities with details of specific action to be taken on behalf of consumers.”
