‘Fly now’ Leeds United players pay Archie Gray tribute after Spurs move

Must read

Confirmation of Archie Gray’s move to Tottenham Hotspur led to an outpouring of love and also frustration among Leeds United supporters as one of the best young talents produced by the club in decades said goodbye after just one season in the first team.

A failure to win automatic promotion back to the Premier League ultimately cost Leeds financially as they sold Gray to help settle the books for Profit and Sustainability reasons, but also as to not stand in the way of the 18-year-old playing at the highest level possible. “Fly now my friend,” was the reply from team-mate Georginio Rutter, while Gray’s club captain and a man he knows very well in Liam Cooper, wrote; “Wishing you nothing but the best Arch. A serious young player with your whole career ahead of you. Proud of you mate.

Pascal Struijk was short and to the point with his, “All the best brother,” message, a sentiment shared by Joe Gelhardt: “All the best lad.” and Jamie Shackleton: “All the best my boy.” Former Leeds team-mate Luke Ayling responded with; “All the best my man,” while darts world champion Luke Humphries wrote; “Wishing you all the best mate!!
