A SCOTS airport was locked down after staff received a threatening communication.
The incident happened at Kirkwall Airport in Orkney this morning.
Police were alerted to the menacing communication around 10.50am.
It is understood flights were temporarily halted as officers rushed to the airport.
Following enquiries cops concluded that there was no evidence to imply any credible threat.
The airport has since fully reopened.
Highlands and Islands Airport Limited, which operates Kirkwall Airport, has advised travellers to contact their airlines for updates.
Officers are continuing to investigate the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.50am today, Saturday, 4 January 2025, police were made aware of a threatening communication made to Kirkwall Airport.
“At this time there is no evidence to suggest the threat was credible.
“Enquiries into the incident are continuing.”
A spokesperson for Highlands and Islands Airport Limited said: “Flights at Kirkwall Airport are currently disrupted due to an ongoing incident.
“We would advise passengers to contact their airlines for flight updates.”
