We all wish we could look like the people we see online sometimes, but maybe it’s time we stopped.
Fitness influencer Lizzy High, known to her 445,000 Instagram followers as Liz Bites Back, has urged her fans not to aspire to look like her despite her super fit physique. The 22-year-old, from North London, is renowned for sharing health tips online, but recently emphasised that comparing ourselves to others is never beneficial.
The reason being, social media doesn’t tell the full story. To illustrate this, she posted a candid video showing how her body appears different from various angles.

While she often appears lean and toned, Lizzy showed her stomach can roll and crease when she’s relaxed or seated. It can also appear rounder during bloating episodes, just like everyone else’s.
She stressed this is entirely normal and wants her followers to remember that no one maintains a flat stomach all the time, regardless of what our minds may lead us to believe.
In an Instagram post, Lizzy advised: “Stop comparing what’s online to your reality. Yes some people have flat stomachs. Yes it’s okay to have physique goals like looking ‘toned’.”
She continued: “And even though it’s possible, don’t get caught up thinking you or anyone looks picture perfect all the time.
“Different angles, time of day, lighting and the food you eat all causes your body to fluctuate, but don’t let that dictate your worth. You see amazing in all angles.”
Since she shared the advice, her post has racked up over 2,000 likes, and her fans have been quick to praise her “honest” approach. One of her followers gushed: “Great advice, very realistic.”
Another chimed in with: “I’ve absolutely hated swimsuit shopping this week; thanks for the reality check.”
A third fan confessed: “I honestly love these reminders. I find myself criticizing myself but then also being like wow, you look good girl, but angles & lighting play a big role.”
And a fourth wrote: “I love that this is not edited – it’s obvious from the slight sunburn lines. I can relate to all of this. And, thanks to having had a C-section, my belly always pooches over my swim bottoms. Oh well.”
