One of the things that many festival veterans and newbies alike fear most about Glastonbury (and any other festival for that matter) is the toilet situation. And, while Glastonbury is known for its stellar festival loo facilities, things can get a bit, well, messy.
Fortunately, Victorian Plumbing have partnered with a qualified personal trainer and fitness expert to create what they have called the ‘ultimate’ Glastonbury ‘booty camp’, designed to prepare festivalgoers for the task of squatting over the loos. The company says: “We all know that festival loos are less than desirable, and hovering over the long drop is an art which requires strength and stability.
“That’s why Victorian Plumbing have partnered with personal trainer Liberty Baxter-Cox, to create the ultimate at-home workout to help festival-goers get their glutes ready.”

As part of the ‘booty camp’, there are five daily beginner friendly exercises to get a ‘squat of steel’ by June 26. These are:
- Sofa squat: Stand in front of the sofa, sit down completely (very briefly) and stand up.
- Tap squat: Squat down to tap your bottom on the sofa, focusing on your legs and glutes, then stand back up.
- Pulse squat: Get into a squat position and stay low, bouncing a few inches.
- Jump squat: Start on a squat position, jump up, and land back in a squat position.
- Hold squat: Hold your squatting position.
Liberty explains: “On day one, we’re starting with five reps of each of the five exercises, meaning we do it five times before moving on to the next exercise. For the hold squat, start at five seconds. As each day goes by, we will add an extra five reps or five seconds per exercise..”
When it comes to the festival itself, Glastonbury is a festival that can require a mammoth trek to set up your camp, as well as walking between stages and areas and, of course, a fair bit of dancing. Liberty has provided some more tips for festivalgoers around how they can build their stamina ahead of the five-day festival.
She goes on to say: “To prepare for the walk, I suggest increasing your stamina beforehand. Roughly pack your bag a few weeks before Glastonbury to get an idea of the weight.
“Then get out on plenty of walks or hikes with it to ensure you’re fighting fit and raring to camp.” She also suggested adding bags to our booty camp training once we begin to improve:
“You’re going to be dancing and walking a lot during your festival experience, so working on your fitness levels will be very beneficial. Start with setting yourself a time to walk with your bag on your back, for example, ten minutes and keep building this by ten minutes a week. By the end of the sixth week, you’ll be at an hour and breezing through.”
