The Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie finally has its debut trailer, and it reveals a whole lot about the upcoming film.
The trailer, below, includes snippets of dialogue from new antagonist Shadow, which means we get to briefly hear Keanu Reeves in the role. Keanu Reeves is very much in Keanu Reeves mode here, which perhaps isn’t much of a surprise.
Shadow, it turns out, is too much for Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles to handle, so they recruit a former foe, Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik, for help. Dr. Robotnik looks a little worse for wear following his exploits in the previous two blockbuster movies, but it’s not long before he’s up for the challenge of saving the world on one, unrevealed condition.
There’s plenty of action in the trailer, which sees Sonic and Shadow in their inevitable battle. At one point, we even see Shadow doing the Akira bike slide.
At the end of the trailer we see a surprise appearance from Dr. Robotnik’s father, much to the surprise of Dr. Robotnik himself.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 hits cinemas December 20, 2024.
