The start to the first day of racing at the Isle of Man TT has been delayed due to a crash on an open road section of the course.
The Isle of Man Constabulary closed the A18 Mountain Road after a car crashed in the area of the Black Hut shortly before 08:00 BST.
While the driver was not injured, the incident had led to damage to fencing and had “deposited some fluids onto the road surface”, which needed to be dealt with, officers said.
As a result, clerk of the course Gary Thompson announced roads around the course would close at 11:30, one hour and 30 minutes later than originally planned.
The revised schedule will see a qualifying session for the Superbike and Superstock classes pushed back to 12:00, followed by a parade lap celebrating 40 years of Arai at the TT at 13:30.
The first race of the 2024 event, Supersport Race 1, will then set off at 14:45, with Sidecar Race 1 after that, starting at 17:15.
Last week’s qualifying for the event was disrupted by a several factors including poor weather conditions.
